Active studio monitors have become more popular than passive ones for two main reasons - the first reason is the active circuit crossover that allows for easier and more precise control, and the second reason is the presence of the built-in amplifier which provides a more convenient and accurate way to control by ensuring that the signal amplification on one channel is separate, the power of the amplifier and the speakers are optimally correlated, and last but not least, they take up less space in the studio.
