Neumann M150 Tube - an omnidirectional studio microphone, valve-based, with a pressure capsule featuring a Titanium diaphragm, is the successor to the legendary M 50. At the lowest frequencies, this microphone acts as a transducer with a perfectly circular polar pattern. However, at mid and high frequencies, the pattern narrows. It is an ideal microphone for stereo, 5.1 or 7.1 surround recording systems, primarily using the DECCA Tree technique.
The dynamic range of this microphone is 119 dB, making it suitable for expressive musical recordings without constraints, particularly recommended for orchestral recordings. On the back of the microphone, there is a -10 dB switch and an adjustable footfall filter to attenuate frequencies below 40 Hz. In the “LIN” position, a cutoff frequency of 16 Hz is activated. This switch does not increase the microphone's frequency range; it only reduces the output signal level by 10 dB for protection against sub-audio noise.
