The Yamaha Silent pianos and uprights have been offering an authentic acoustic piano experience since 1993 with a mechanical-electric system that allows the acoustic mechanism of the piano to be detached and a digital system to be activated through headphones, making practice completely silent for the surrounding environment.
In the TransAcoustic series pianos, the digital sound is sent directly to the piano's soundboard, causing the piano itself to behave like a speaker. On a TransAcoustic piano, the emitted sound resonates directly from its soundboard.
