Until now, Universal Audio UAD cards have been considered excellent for tracking, recording a vocal channel, or mastering because they came with a series of excellent plugins (extraordinary simulations of legendary outboard gear from major studios), and they were used solely for this purpose due to the high computational power required by these plugins. Since most VST effects still cannot reach a "pro" level because they do not have enough resources available (the CPU of a PC is still not sufficient), and cheap effects do not have advanced algorithms to deliver the desired quality, the average person has three options: buy the necessary hardware (the average person may have the financial resources for Neve, Pultec, etc.); invest in an external VST host (such as V-Machine from SM Pro Audio - available in a few weeks with us) or purchase a DSP card that comes with quality plugins. In this segment, there are not many players, most of them being small and only a few large ones. The UAD series is one of the important ones. And now the new series of UAD-2: Solo, Duo, and Quad has arrived.
