Yamaha P-S500 B - The Yamaha P-S500 digital piano is a smart piano that synchronises the Stream Lights function, which shows the performer which keys to play, with the Smart Pianist app, assisting you with piano lessons.

The P-S500 features piano sounds captured from the Yamaha CFX concert model and the famous Bösendorfer Imperial. These piano samples give you access to two of the best and most prominent concert pianos in the world.
Binaural sampling is a method of sampling where special microphones are placed on the head of a mannequin in the same position as the pianist's ears to capture the piano sounds as they truly are. We chose this method to create the full natural atmosphere and resonance of acoustic pianos in the P-S500. This makes pianists feel as if they are sitting at a grand piano even when playing with headphones on. The experience is so enjoyable that you forget you are wearing headphones, no matter how long you continue to play.
In a grand piano, the strings and sounds resonate throughout the entire body of the instrument producing a rich reverberation that envelops the listener in sound. Not only do the strings of the keys you press vibrate, but other strings also sound in response to those you play. This is one of the reasons why the sound of the piano is so complex and rich. This phenomenon is perfectly reproduced in the P-S500 through Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM), which calculates the different states of the strings for each of the 88 keys on the keyboard from one moment to the next. As a result, the P-S500 reflects the countless inherent factors of playing an acoustic piano, such as the keys pressed, the force with which the keys are pressed, and the timing of the pedal.
The Yamaha Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) keyboard has a weighted action, with a heavier touch in the lower range and a lighter touch in the upper range, just like the hammers inside an acoustic piano. Excellent for the aspiring pianist, practising on the GHS action builds the proper finger technique and ideal finger strength for when it comes time to play an acoustic piano.
The P-S500 is equipped with 660 varied, high-quality voices, including stunning pianos, electric pianos, organs, brass, strings, percussion, and many more. From breathy saxophones to resonant guitars and warm strings, the P-S500 impressively reproduces sounds down to the finest nuances. Thanks to the acclaimed Super Articulation technology, the distinctive characteristics of each instrument are reproduced in incredible detail as you play.
The accompaniment and rhythmic backing patterns (called “Styles”) cover a wide range of musical genres, including pop, jazz, and many more, allowing you to recreate the sound of a full band or orchestra on your own.
The P-S500 allows you to record your own performances in two different formats: audio and MIDI. Audio recording lets you capture playback in the conventional way, which you can then play back on your smart device. MIDI recording, on the other hand, allows you to record up to 16 tracks, with separate parts for the left and right hands or complex multi-instrument arrangements.
Since a microphone can be connected to the P-S500, you can enjoy singing along with your keyboard performance or along with playback of songs. Furthermore, you can apply various studio-quality effects, such as chorus, to your singing voice and even cancel the vocal part of audio recordings, allowing you to sing along with (or instead of) your favourite artists and bands and making it even more enjoyable to sing.
The Smart Pianist app supports not only wired connection but also wireless connection with the optional UD-WL01 Wi-Fi USB LAN wireless adapter.
