In 2006, we closely examined the most popular active humbuckers for neck and bridge to see if we could capture all the good qualities and eliminate the drawbacks: cold sound, limited dynamics, loss of headroom when playing hard, and the need for batteries. The final results are D Activator™ Neck and Bridge. They use coils tuned to specific frequencies. The goal is to shift the resonant points of the pickups towards the fundamental elements and harmonics you want to emphasise from the guitar, and they respond instantly to strong or light attacks of the pickup.
