Rode NT-SF1

Rode NT-SF1 - Ambisonic microphone that captures 360° surround sound of broadcast quality (with height) in A format on four separate tracks. It is the first collaboration between SoundField (the company that invented the first commercial ambisonic microphone) and RØDE. Made from solid brass, the NT-SF1 uses four cardioid polar pattern condenser microphone capsules, RØDE TF-45C ½”, arranged in a tetrahedral configuration that facilitates the recording of the entire spherical sound field.

Internally created at RØDE's headquarters in Sydney, the TF-45C is processed to tolerances of less than 1 micron in state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. The result is a capsule with high sound clarity, sonic purity, and extremely low noise.

The microphone is ideal for capturing surround sound used in VR applications, video games, sports broadcasts, and feature films. Since it is recorded in A format and easily converted to B format, it can be manipulated in any direction in post-production using the free SoundField by RØDE plugin (available for download here).
