The sound engine in the PA1000 uses four times more PCM memory compared to the highly regarded PA900, and this memory can be expanded up to 600MB using tone compression. The number of User Styles has increased, reaching 1152 positions that will cover almost any style you can imagine. The sound system has been improved to create a powerful, rich sound that is further enhanced by features such as the TC Helicon voice processor, a two-channel MP3 player, and the Crossfade Sequencer function. Additionally, the Video Output function allows you to project lyrics onto a screen so that listeners can enjoy an unforgettable experience. The PA1000 incorporates all these features into a high-quality casing with aluminium inserts in the side panels, ensuring you will stand out anywhere.
A completely new feature is KAOSS FX, which offers absolute control over your performance. From subtle changes between variations and drum kits, balancing between accompaniment instruments, real-time modification of rhythms, to the most radical and modern effects used by DJs, delays, and arpeggiators, you can also add the “liquid mixing” function to any style or song in MIDI format using the composition features together with a computer. The main panel has been optimized for intuitive and easy access to all buttons. Large and bright, the new capacitive TouchView screen comes with a newly modified graphical interface to facilitate navigation through the instrument's menu. The entire screen can be tilted forward and backward, ensuring visibility in any environment.
The Search function will find all the information you need to access. Styles, Keyboard Sets, and SongBook can be read directly from a USB stick without needing to load them into the instrument's memory.
The PA1000 is based on KORG's EDS-X (Enhanced Definition Synthesis-eXpanded) sound engine and comes equipped with over 1750 tones. This realistic collection of sounds offers a wide range of tones suitable for classical or contemporary music, band or orchestral, plus acoustic instruments from techno to folk. Included in the package are two multi-layer piano tones (with damper and resonance box simulation), plus electric piano tones borrowed from the well-known KORG SV-1.
The organ tones also feature functions such as: on/off noise, Leakage, or Rotary Speaker. In addition to these, the PA1000 is equipped with new wind instruments, string instruments, bass guitar, and even acoustic and electric guitars. The three assignable buttons and the joystick in 4 directions allow the DNC function to reproduce the finest nuances and articulations of an acoustic instrument, thus generating ultra-realistic tones.
Up to 600MB (compressed information) is available, so you can easily load the sounds you desire. The General MIDI bank has been improved to ensure compatibility with GM files. You can also import/load KORG, WAV, AIFF, SoundFont files and export in WAV and AIFF format. Sounds can be edited, and now you can use up to 24 oscillators for each note!
The PA1000 offers over 430 styles, straight from the factory. Each style is a complete musical environment dedicated to recreating a particular music style. With so many options, the PA1000 ensures instant access to a vast variety of musical genres. Each style has 4 Fill-ins + Break, one for each variation. Using the new Auto-Fill function, these can be accessed automatically when changing the variation of a style. A multitude of new styles have been created, and many of the existing styles have been enhanced with new sounds and new mixing functions.
The PA1000 has 1152 user locations to allow saving your styles and preferred settings. More technological parameters have been added along with Guitar Mode 2, providing authenticity in performance and clear nuances for guitar sounds. Each style can be enhanced with up to 4 Pads. Each Pad can add a riff, a percussion segment, an accentuated sound, or even a sound effect. The Chord Sequencer is a convenient function that can quickly record a harmonic sequence and loop it. This can be useful not only for practice but also to free up your left hand while using the instrument. These harmonic progressions recorded by the Chord Sequencer can be saved as Styles or in the SongBook.
The long-standing collaboration between KORG and TC Helicon® continues with the PA1000 series. The new processing algorithms ensure quality sound and stability during performance. You can control up to 3 voices using the keyboard or via MIDI signals. Still, 5 effects are available including Equalizer, Gate, Compressor, and two FX. Two potentiometers and 3 buttons provide immediate access to activate or deactivate the TC Helicon processor functions.
The guitar effects allow for adding pedal-type effects to a guitar connected via the special input. Some of the best guitar effects from the KORG collection have been selected to bring that authentic tube amplifier sound, realistic distortion, chorus or delay, as well as the highest quality reverb effects.
MIDI connection can now also be made via USB HOST (along with USB device and MIDI ports). This change allows for easy connection of other MIDI controllers or digital pianos (e.g., Havian 30), or Korg's Nano and Micro series, without needing special adapters.
Since the PA1000 is a professional keyboard, it offers the ability to record everything you perform! You can play a song, perform over it using the keyboard, microphone, or guitar, and everything will be recorded in MP3 format and stored on a USB stick or in the internal memory of the synthesizer.
Especially useful for live performances, the SongBook is a fully customizable search engine that helps you easily find the desired style. Each position contains all the necessary settings to play a specific song. The SongBook can use styles, MIDI files, or MP3s and can easily reset settings such as song name, musical genre, artist, tempo, volume, sounds, muted tracks, effect settings, 4 Keyboard Sets, TC Helicon presets, transposition, and much more. The SongBook includes a new Set List function, which comes with a new button-panel association that allows for quick resetting to facilitate live performances.
With the SongBook editor, you can view, create, and edit all the saves made in the SongBook. It can also be synchronized with iOS and Android tablets to read lyrics or scores directly from the tablet. Everything you need to perform a song perfectly is in the SongBook, perhaps one of the most useful features.
