In 2006, we closely examined the most popular active humbuckers for neck and bridge to see if we could capture all the good qualities while eliminating the drawbacks: cold sound, limited dynamics, loss of headroom when playing hard, and the need for batteries. The final results are the D Activator™ Neck and Bridge. They use coils tuned to specific frequencies. The aim is to shift the resonance points of the pickups towards the fundamental elements and harmonics you want to emphasise from the guitar, and they respond instantly to both strong and light attacks of the pickup.
