ErgoPlay is a German manufacturer specializing in ergonomic supports for classical guitar, founded in the early 2000s by guitarists and educators Michael Tröster and Johannes Tappert. Drawing from their own experiences as musicians, the two sought an alternative to the traditional footstool, which can cause discomfort and posture problems during prolonged use — especially during tours and intense rehearsals.
The result of their research in anatomy and ergonomics is a support that attaches directly to the underside of the guitar, using rubber suction cups, and rests on the player's leg. The painted aluminum frame, with adjustable plastic screws, allows for individual angle adjustment, providing a natural, balanced posture without limiting freedom of movement — the body of the guitar can vibrate freely, maintaining its full resonance.
All ErgoPlay products are designed and manufactured in Germany. The range includes the Tappert models (basic version, also available for children) and the Tröster (advanced version), along with accessories for mandolin and other string instruments such as lute, bouzouki, saz, oud, or ukulele.
