As floor protection, it's okay because no cello or double bass spike will manage to pierce the material it's made of. However, if you intend to use it as a stand for the spike, it's not a wise choice because the material it’s built from slides on any surface (marble, tiles, parquet, cement, carpet, rug) and you would have to stop every 10 seconds to reposition your instrument between your legs. It can, however, be used as floor protection in a corner of a room where you usually store the instrument.
