You need the metal clips for the MuffBite if you use drums with cast iron hoops. The magnets on the MuffBites won't hold here. But if you clip on the clamps, the magnets have a place to dock on. The clamps are lined with foam on the inside so that nothing happens to the rim and everything holds securely.
