So far, the microphone works very well. It seems a bit clearer and sounds airier than the Gen 4. If I compare it to the Rode NT1 Gen 4, we have to discuss the construction category here. To keep the Gen 5 at a lower price, they made significant compromises on materials and manufacturing. It feels much lighter and less robust. Even the thread at the base is shorter, and the XLR connection feels hard to secure due to excessive material savings. All in all, the Rode NT1 Gen 5 remains a good purchase considering the audio quality and the 10-year warranty.
