The SG type, launched in 1961 by Gibson, is a highly versatile guitar that offers a tone between a Les Paul and a Stratocaster, and provides maximum access to the upper octave frets due to the neck joint design. SG models became famous thanks to AC/DC guitarist Angus Young.
