Palmer MI DMS - passive footswitch / splitter only for dynamic microphones, it routes the signal from a microphone to two outputs that can be individually selected.
It can be ideal for use in situations:
When selecting the microphone signal to the PA system or to stage monitors, for optimal communication with the band.
Selecting 2 types of effects for the microphone, for example a Delay effect and a Reverb effect assigned separately to 2 channels on the mixing console, with the DMS instantly selecting the desired channel.
Selecting the microphone signal sent to two different rooms or two different areas.
It does what it says it does, as long as the button is pressed, the signal is transmitted on channel 2, upon release it goes back to channel 1.
No distortion, buzzing, or other noise.
Switching between channels is done silently.
An affordable solution for vocalists who need to communicate with the technical team or colleagues on stage during performances. It eliminates the need for a second microphone with a simple foot button press, switching between outputs is very easy, quick, and most importantly, without background noise, which I was worried about, but fortunately, that's not the case. I use it with a Shure SM58, so dynamic, probably with a condenser and phantom power, that popping sound would occur due to the voltage, but it performs very well with a dynamic microphone. Another advantage is that it doesn't need power, so it's very portable, no headaches with batteries or the risk of losing power, it's very versatile. The metal construction seems very solid to me, I don't see any problems arising over time. It's quite heavy and the rubber band underneath gives it extra stability. I don't see any downsides to it, at least for now; I've been using it for two weeks and so far I have no complaints. I hope it lasts a long time!
