Triton Audio BigAmp Piezo, FET preamplifier and DI for instruments, specially designed for signals from piezo pickups. The class A low-noise amplifier provides 3 dB of high-end gain followed by a low-impedance, balanced buffer that reveals every detail and offers high-quality sound. The output signal of your instrument will be transformed from an unbalanced to a balanced signal.
Piezo pickups typically have an impedance of several mega Ohms, which is much higher compared to the Hi-Z input of instrument preamplifiers or mixing consoles. This prevents the pickup from transmitting its potential output signal to the preamplifier and restricts transient response. Additionally, the high impedance, combined with the capacitance of the cable connected to the preamplifier, forms a low-pass filter, which causes the piezo pickup not to sound at its full potential.
BigAmp Piezo is specially designed to overcome the above issues. It has an input impedance of 7.5 mega Ohms, allowing the piezo pickup to deliver its full potential. The signal amplification is reduced (3dB) to allow for the greatest possible headroom. Due to its small size, BigAmp Piezo can be connected close to the pickup, keeping the cable capacitance to a minimum.
