Super nice toy

The Irig Keys 2 Mini controller is exactly what you need, especially if you plan to set up a minimal mobile setup. I use it with an iPad when I go out into nature, for example. And the fact that it has only two octaves somehow boosts creativity (rarely, when you have few resources, creativity prevails). It's a change of perspective when the multiple possibilities of creating sound take away your drive to create.
IK Multimedia also offers some free software that is more than generous in terms of sound libraries, which is a big plus.
One thing I would add regarding the stereo output from the controller is that at maximum volume, it seems noticeably lower than the tablet's output.
