The Beta 87A has controlled proximity effect and prevents the muffled sound that can occur when microphone placement is close to the sound source. The characteristic presence peak of Shure microphones opens up the mid-high frequencies. The very narrow supercardioid pattern, with null points at approximately 125 degrees, offers maximum isolation from other sound sources, and minimal coloration of off-axis sounds.
