Rohema Rakatak Blue

Similar to a Maracas, the Rakatak produces its sound by moving the instrument forward and backward. However, Rakatak and Maracas differ fundamentally in their sound. Instead of a pattering tone like the steel sand filled Maracas, the Rakatak produces only one clearly accentuated tone. This tone is produced by the mallet, which is inserted through the hollow resonating body, striking both sides. The slit in the length of the instrument body amplifies the sound production. The blue Rakatak produces a rather dark sound. The instrument is made of high quality domestic beech wood. The heads of the mallet are lacquered in blue. This varnish is of course saliva and sweat-proof, so that even the youngest can make music with the Rakatak without any worries.
