Keyed and Button Accordions
53 productsAn accordion is chosen based on two things: the key system and the number of basses. The keyed (piano) system has a piano-like keyboard on the right side — the easiest to learn for someone who already knows a bit of piano or wants an intuitive instrument. The button system is more compact and easier to carry, but requires a different finger technique, typical of folk and traditional music from many regions.
The number of basses indicates how 'complete' the accordion is: 48 basses is the smallest and lightest option, suitable for a child or for a first encounter with the instrument; 72 and 96 basses are intermediate steps; 120 basses is the complete, standard option for professional playing. An accordion with fewer basses is also cheaper and easier to carry.
For a first accordion, the Hohner Bravo II with 48 basses is the most accessible option in the portfolio — lightweight, compact, with a keyed system. For those looking for a digital, silent alternative for practicing with headphones, the Roland V-Accordion range brings the sound of the accordion into an electronic instrument.
We have over 40 active accordion models, from Hohner and Roland to Startone, Parrot, and Korg.
