Granite has a crystalline atomic structure ideal for sound transfer, requiring no additional processing.
The natural change in sound after installation is significant, reducing signal loss from the guitar to the amplifier by at least 30%.
The blocks are made from Volcano Black Absolute granite, with a compressive strength of 19,000 psi/130,000 kpa and a tensile strength of 700 psi/4,800 kpa. It comes with stainless steel mounting screws.
The block can limit upward movement of the tremolo and can be set to rest on the body in a blocked bridge configuration.
For setting the floating bridge, this block may require some adjustments in the spring cavity.
Information about the grounding strip: For guitars with simple grounding electronics, we include a recommended .020 copper grounding strip to counteract any grounding issues. Grounding strip installation: 1. We recommend that one part of the copper strip be in contact with the granite block. 2. We recommend grounding this strip to the spring claw, tone potentiometer, or mounting post for best results. Block installation: 1. DO NOT use any type of drill to secure the granite block mounting hardware to the base plate. 2. Ensure that the Stone Tone® logo on the block is facing the 'spring claw' (front) when mounting to the base plate. 3. Optional* You can apply a little Loctite in each mounting hole or on the threads of the mounting hardware for heavy users. 4. Start with the central screw for a light tightening, following the same procedure for the left and right hardware before final tightening. 5. Once all 3 screws are tightened on the base plate, begin to tighten 'manually' evenly, always starting from the centre. 6. You’re ready!
