In 1961, the Les Paul™ model was put on hold, and an entirely new design evolved into what is today known as the SG™ or "solid guitar". The Gibson SG Standard '61 retains the original style, featuring a SlimTaper™ mahogany neck and a bound rosewood fingerboard. The mahogany body showcases a deep carve, a 5-ply teardrop pickguard, and a neck joint at fret 22. The nickel hardware includes a classic Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and Keystone tuning keys. The pickups are 60s Burstbucker™ humbuckers for a classic sound with added power and clarity. Controls include audio taper potentiometers and Orange Drop® capacitors. Hard case included.
