Although the SC204 has a compact size, do not be fooled by this. The sound is stronger and richer than many other monitors in this range. Additionally, the SC204 has a threaded insert at the base that allows it to be mounted on microphone stands.
The SC204 uses a 4" SilverCone woofer with a honeycomb diaphragm and is powered by a complex system of magnets with a 1" coil. This produces greater dynamics than you might expect from such a small monitor. The AMT tweeter is a proprietary EVE technology that follows the rule of quality components to achieve superior results. The precision and detail of the high frequencies in EVE monitors, combined with the technology applied for bass and mid-range, make the SC204 suitable for both mobile applications and as a secondary monitor in a larger studio.
The DSP is operated by a dedicated and electrically shielded micro-controller, which uses a Burr Brown A/D converter to digitize the analog input, which then transmits the signal directly to the PWM amplifiers.
The bass ports are located on the back of the monitor and have been tuned to achieve the best possible impact on low frequencies at all volume levels. To protect the tweeter, a magnetic grille is included that can be easily detached when not needed.
