The study C flute is the standard instrument for beginners — with closed-hole keys, it is easier to control than the open-hole variants, which are reserved for advanced players for finer sound control. The material matters: a head plated with silver or nickel-silver is sufficient for a student, while a solid silver head provides a fuller and warmer sound, sought after by advanced students and professionals.
The piccolo flute is the 'little brother' of the C flute — one octave higher, used in orchestras and bands, usually as a second instrument, not as the first choice. For a child just starting out, a lightweight study flute with a simple mechanism is the right choice; for a high school or conservatory student, a flute with open holes and a silver head marks the transition to the next level.
We have over 50 models of flutes and piccolos in our portfolio, from student instruments to advanced variants. Availability often changes for this type of instrument — check the exact stock on each model's page.
