DiMarzio EP1112 Five-Way Switch multipole

The invention of a five-way pickup switch opened up a new world of tonal possibilities and voices on the guitar, unlike the fairly limited three-option switch that preceded it. Its revolutionary attribute made it possible for players to eliminate the 60-cycle hum of a single-coil pickup by combining a standard pickup with one that was wound in reverse with opposite polarity (RWRP).

The second contact pole of this “Main Switch” multipole exponentially expands the sonic landscape of the instrument, making it possible to access the modern split-coil and phase options offered by four-conductor pickups.

We chose this blade-style switch for its tone and feel. Each position of this robust switch translates in the hand with a positive “click” – no more need to look down mid-performance to determine which of your pickups is selected. The precision of this switch is achieved through careful machining and a universal tensioning cam that replaces the spring found on most other blade switches.
