I just received this MIDI controller a few hours ago. For the price it has, the quality is above and it also comes with software and sounds as a gift. The keys feel nice to the touch and the pads are superb. Simple, small, perfect for a home studio, on a desk with limited space, also easy to use and set up, including in other DAWs. I use Ardour and it works perfectly. I recommend it for both beginners and those who have been making music for a few years.
So I had a little time to try it out and test it, it works perfectly, you don't even feel it when you put your fingers on the keys, it's very delicate and you feel like you're floating when you put your fingers on the keys. Other than that, it's everything you need, I will buy more, but I would like this mini to advance to another level, especially some modifications are needed, other than that everything is very good.
Incredible how small it is! I use it with Logic Pro X and it works perfectly (all buttons can be configured to control Logic). As a downside, the feedback and the size of the keyboard are a bit lacking, and the velocity on the keys isn't great - it feels like you only have 2 levels - soft and loud! But... let's not forget the purpose - portability!
My boyfriend is passionate about music and I gifted him this midi. So I can say he doesn't put it down anymore. It came with all sorts of subscriptions to certain sites where you can get sounds and samples, etc... The keys, knobs, and pads are super easy to press. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who wants to get into music.
It's perfect for Ableton! The keys are made of the same cheap plastic as all the other mini MIDI controllers. The pads are okay. I like the design and portability. I give it 5 stars for integration with Ableton. What I would like in the future from the Launchkey Mini:
* Higher quality keyboard and longer key travel
* Pads not so rigid
* Endless encoders
* Mini display
