The M149 features the legendary K49 capsule (from the U47 and M49) followed by a tube that acts as an impedance converter complemented by a transformerless output circuit. The M149 has two switches under the grille, the first allows selection from the 9 polar patterns, while the one at the back operates a high-pass filter in 7 steps.
