Avalon Design U5

Avalon U5 - Class A DI/preamplifier for instruments, designed to optimise signal integrity and musical performance, making it ideal for bass guitars and acoustic instruments, electric guitars, keyboards, synthesizers, and low-output pickups. It combines a passive tone selector with a variable gain preamplifier and filter. The high output impedance accommodates a wide variety of signal levels and offers 6 passive tone-EQ curves. It also features a high-cut switch that eliminates noise from acoustic pickups or high frequencies. Additionally, it provides a headphone amplifier for personal monitoring. The Twin DC coupled Class A output amplifiers are used for both microphone preamplifier inputs and high-level +4dB inputs for direct recording and processing. The 'active-to-thru' selector chooses either the direct instrument input or sends the equalised and boosted signal to the amplifier via the connector on the front panel. A 'ground isolation' switch also eliminates any unwanted noise that may arise from power supply or ground loops.
