Neumann KMS 104 Ni

Neumann KMS-104, condenser microphone for stage vocal applications, cardioid pattern. The KMS series microphones have a fine frequency response, high acoustic resolution, and low self-noise and crosstalk. The acoustic filters and integrated impedance converters protect the microphone from loud, occlusive sounds. Despite excellent pop protection, sibilant sounds and 'S' sounds are transmitted with natural emphasis, and the integrated filters ensure high-level feedback protection.

Since vocal microphones are used up close, electronic compensation is employed for low frequencies at the capsules to reproduce the proximity effect. Additionally, the KMS series microphones feature an invariant high-pass filter with a low-frequency cut-off at 120Hz (-3dB measured). The dynamic range of the KMS series microphones is 132 dB, with a maximum sound pressure level of 150dB. The self-noise is only 18dB, allowing for high gain levels without additional noise risk. Thanks to transformerless circuits, microphone signals can be transmitted over long distances without loss.

The KMS series includes 3 models, KMS-104, KMS-104 Plus, and KMS-105. KMS-104 and KMS-104 Plus have a cardioid condenser capsule that allows for the suppression of sounds from behind the microphone. KMS-105 features a supercardioid pattern and is ideal for applications where all sounds originating from the complete 180° hemisphere behind the microphone need to be suppressed. Compared to KMS-104, KMS-104 Plus has an extended response in low frequencies, being optimized and recommended for female voices in rock and pop styles.
