microKORG XL+, synthesizer and vocoder with analogue modelling in a vintage design, the successor to the original microKORG. The MMT (Multi Modelling Technology) derived from Radias and R3 contains two oscillators. The first (OSC1) is not only a classic analogue waveform oscillator but can also reproduce 7 other algorithms and human voices, vintage keyboard samples, noises, and string instruments. With cross-modulation, unison, and VPM (variable phase modulation), sounds can be created that are not possible with PCM synthesis. The second oscillator (OSC2) can be used for modulation (sync or ring) connected to the first oscillator.
The vocoder is versatile, also includes a robot effect, talk box filter, pseudo choir, talking instruments, and vintage sci-fi effects. The Formant Hold facility locks the input, allowing for a continuous vocoding effect. The microphone is standard equipment.
The synthesizer comes with 128 included sounds, which can be easily navigated using the jog wheel, and filtering can be done by categorising by music genres and groups of instruments. Effects are provided by two effects processors from the KAOSS series.
