It's a cable, you can't write a review (logic would say), that's true - it's stupid to write a review about a cable, but some cables deserve a story.
"A $25 cable is just a cable," that's the normal reaction when you open the packaging hoping to finally get rid of the unruly cable that tends to take up all the space around. But the AKG EK 500s wants to be special: it's a cable that wants to compete with all the existing CC-POPS brands (CC-POPS - Cheap Chinese Piece Of Plastic Shit) that compete under $5 in the corners of AliExpress/Banggood. I can overlook the molds with an admirable execution from a Swiss army knife used for injecting the connectors, although I wonder why they didn't use the same knife to remove the sharp burrs left on the connectors from the mold seams; I can overlook the gold plating that instantly oxidizes when exposed to weak acids; I can overlook the sandpaper feel of the cable insulation, but no one can ignore the horrible stiffness of the uncoiled sections: after two weeks, the used wires or the sandpaper insulation have an incredible memory, they want to return to the exact shape they had in the packaging. It's the only cable that has made me hate the headphones it's connected to.
And although logic says you can't write a review for a cable, the madness generated by the AKG EK 500s forces me to come back with a review after dissecting it - probably on the site, with detailed pictures.
