Size is the first choice when it comes to a ukulele, not the brand. The soprano is the 'classic' ukulele — the smallest, cheapest, and easiest to carry anywhere, with the bright and cheerful sound from movies; it’s the right choice for a first instrument or for a child. The concert is slightly larger, with a fuller sound and deeper bass, and remains easy to play for adult hands — often the second choice, or the first for someone transitioning from guitar. The tenor is the largest of the three, with a sound closest to a small guitar, but requires more accustomed fingers with a longer neck.
For a first ukulele, the Mahalo Learn 2 Play Pack — soprano size, with everything you need to get started — is the most affordable entry point. For those wanting a fuller sound from their first instrument, the Arrow MH-10 Concert Mahogany is our best-selling model, also at an affordable price.
We have over 260 active ukulele models, from Arrow and Ortega — the latter having the richest range in the portfolio — to Fender and Dimavery, plus strings, cases, straps, and stands for any size.
